About the Author

Welcome to my blog! After many years in leadership roles, 40 of them in human resource management, I now serve as an advisor/consultant to senior management at various organizations on people related issues. While not advising others, I write about people related issues.

Some of my history ………..

I joined the U. S. Marine Corps right out of high school. My first leadership experience came about 26 months after my first day of boot camp. That was when, at age 19, I was promoted to Sergeant and became responsible for directing others. Like anyone new to a leadership role, I made my share of mistakes after I put those stripes on. Luckily, I didn’t get anyone killed! After a year in the states and two one-year tours in Asia, I climbed on board a ship and went back to the states, finishing my enlistment.

After trying out a couple of sales gigs, I found out sales was not my forte! Geeez, I was terrible at it! I went into manufacturing, starting on an assembly line, moved to a shift supervisor role, and then into human resources and stayed with that profession for the next forty years. Along the way, I earned a degree in business and completed a good share of a Master’s degree credits. A good share of my career after that was in HR managment in open pit and undergound mining in the mid-west and west.

Over the years, I developed many traning programs, including leadership development courses. This past summer, I decided to combine many of those course topics into a book. Published in June 2009, the title is Surviving and Thriving in the HR World. It’s available on my website, Cascadecareers.com, amazon.com and barnes & noble.com

I will be commenting on leadership issues and managment in general. Join me!
